Sara Pickowitz

Teacher

Preschool 2

Sara graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2018. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Development and Education. Sara has been working at the UConn Child Labs since August of 2019.

Sara has found her passion taking part in fostering the growth and development of her preschoolers emotionally, socially, creatively, intellectually and physically. She brings her love for nature into the classroom by engaging children in nature experiences, using natural loose parts, encouraging the use of natural materials to engage in dramatic play and teaching her preschoolers to love and protect nature.

In the classroom, Sara brings a gentle and welcoming presence. Her calm nature and positive attitude provides comfort to families, children and college students. Sara strives to be a mentor to the college students who work in her classroom. She enjoys teaching them, forming connections, collaborating and watching their confidence grow throughout their time in the classroom.

In her free time, you will often find her reading a book, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Sara looks forward to learning something new everyday in her classroom and furthering her education through professional development courses.
