Ann Bladen

Anne has been our Executive Director since 2007.  She brought a unique blend of experience to the leadership of our program from the different positions she has held over the years.   Beginning in 1996, Anne started with us as a teacher.  She was a beloved kindergarten teacher and still has contact with several young adults who she sent on their academic journey.  After Anne left the classroom, she worked as our Special Needs Coordinator. She was an advocate for children with special needs and made certain that the classroom included experiences that met the needs of each child.  Anne became our Interim Director in 2006 before settling into the Executive Directorship. She currently is on the faculty at Uconn as she teaches undergraduate students early childhood education in a seminar/practicum.  Anne was instrumental in writing Connecticut Early Childhood Credential and consequently bringing the credential to the Uconn Child Development Labs.

Anne graduated from Uconn with a Masters’ Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Anne has served in various community capacities during her career.  She chaired the group Mansfield Advocates for Children, coached and mentored several early childhood centers around the state in different stages of accreditation and helped them navigate the many facets of intentional teaching.

You can find Anne anywhere at Uconn, from meeting with top Uconn officials, to playing peek-a-boo with our youngest infants.  Anne is comfortable wearing many “hats” for the growth of the Child Labs. She supports our children, families, staff and college students studying under her wise and patient guidance.

Anne has a vision for our center and she works tirelessly to make it happen.  It shows in so many ways.  From the classroom to the corridors, you can see Anne’s influence in the atmosphere of play in each classroom to the multi-cultural flag and phrases in our hallway.
